Trade/Export Finance Officer (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is looking for a Trade/Export Finance Officer to join its Global Directorate in Luxembourg. The role supports the Bank’s strategy to fill trade and export‑finance gaps by providing de‑risking and liquidity solutions to EU Export Credit Agencies and commercial banks.

Key responsibilities

• Originate, appraise, structure, negotiate and manage trade and export‑finance facilities with confirming and issuing banks and Export Credit Agencies.
• Conduct detailed financial, credit and institutional analysis of partner institutions, including risk, AML/CFT, ESG and operational capacity assessments.
• Collaborate with internal EIB services to monitor portfolio exposure, concentration, performance and early‑warning signals, proposing remedial actions when needed.
• Maintain and develop strong relationships with partner banks, ECAs, international financial institutions and EU bodies.
• Represent EIB Global in international trade‑finance forums and contribute to cross‑directorate initiatives such as product innovation and digitalisation.

Required profile

• Strong background in trade or export finance, preferably within an international or multilateral institution.
• Experience in financial analysis, credit assessment and risk monitoring.
• Good understanding of AML/CFT, ESG criteria and institutional governance.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
