Internal Auditor – 1-Year Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

Our client, an established international bank with a strong presence in Luxembourg and across Europe, is seeking an Internal Auditor on a one‑year fixed‑term contract to cover a maternity leave. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to robust internal controls, risk management and regulatory compliance within a dynamic financial institution.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the annual and multi‑year audit plan, including risk‑based planning of audit assignments.
• Conduct full‑cycle audit missions (planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow‑up).
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes, maintaining clear audit documentation.
• Follow up on remediation plans to ensure timely closure of audit findings.
• Stay informed of EU and Luxembourg banking regulations and adapt audit programmes accordingly.
• Collaborate with Head Office and Group Internal Audit teams and support regulatory or external inspections when required.

Required profile

• University degree in finance, accounting, audit, economics or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CPA or CFA are a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of internal or external audit experience in banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, internal control frameworks and international auditing standards.
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills.
• Fluency in English; French or another EU language is an advantage.
• Valid Luxembourg work permit.
