About the role
The Unix Engineer will be responsible for the administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of Unix/Linux servers across production, test and development environments. You will work closely with cloud and DevOps teams to modernise infrastructure while ensuring security, reliability and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu Server) in production, test and development.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade and troubleshoot operating systems.
- Monitor system performance, capacity and availability; perform system hardening.
- Manage user accounts, permissions and authentication mechanisms.
- Automate tasks using Shell scripting, Python and Ansible; support configuration‑management tools.
- Implement backup, disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solutions.
- Investigate incidents, resolve complex technical issues and participate in on‑call support.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with cloud and DevOps teams on infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry best practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in French and good level of English; German or Luxembourgish is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
- Experience supporting mission‑critical production environments and working in ITIL‑based organisations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills; proactive team player.
