Unix Engineer

About the role

The Unix Engineer will be responsible for the administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of Unix/Linux servers across production, test and development environments. You will work closely with cloud and DevOps teams to modernise infrastructure while ensuring security, reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu Server) in production, test and development.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade and troubleshoot operating systems.
• Monitor system performance, capacity and availability; perform system hardening.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and authentication mechanisms.
• Automate tasks using Shell scripting, Python and Ansible; support configuration‑management tools.
• Implement backup, disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solutions.
• Investigate incidents, resolve complex technical issues and participate in on‑call support.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cloud and DevOps teams on infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent experience.
• Fluent in French and good level of English; German or Luxembourgish is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
• Experience supporting mission‑critical production environments and working in ITIL‑based organisations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills; proactive team player.
