Senior Climate Adaptation Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior Climate Adaptation Expert to support the EU‑funded project that assists Uzbekistan in implementing its Agri‑Food Development Strategy 2020‑2030. The role focuses on integrating climate adaptation and resilience into agricultural policies, programmes and institutional frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Support the integration of climate adaptation and resilience considerations into agri‑food policies and institutional frameworks.
• Provide technical assistance on climate‑smart agriculture, climate risk management and adaptation planning.
• Conduct climate vulnerability, adaptation and resilience assessments for agriculture and rural development.
• Develop climate adaptation strategies, operational frameworks and guidance documents for ministries and public institutions.
• Promote water‑efficiency, sustainable farming practices, biodiversity protection and ecosystem resilience.
• Prepare climate analyses, adaptation roadmaps, technical studies and policy recommendations.
• Coordinate with ministries, research institutes, environmental agencies, farmer organisations and development partners.
• Deliver workshops, technical training and capacity‑building activities.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting and evaluation of climate adaptation initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in climate change, environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, natural resource management, rural development or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate adaptation, environmental sustainability, climate‑smart agriculture or natural resource management.
• At least 7 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning or climate‑smart agriculture within agricultural or rural development projects in developing or transition economies.
• Experience working on international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
