Research Scientist – Public Law

About the role

The University of Luxembourg seeks a Research Scientist to strengthen its Public and Tax Law research area. The role combines independent scholarly work with teaching and knowledge‑transfer activities, focusing on European and Luxembourg public economic, financial and monetary law.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research in public economic, financial, monetary and regulatory law, contributing to the faculty’s sustainability‑oriented research strategy.
• Publish high‑quality articles in internationally recognised journals and participate in editorial or scientific committees.
• Identify, secure and manage external research funding, preparing competitive grant applications.
• Organise and contribute to national and international scientific events such as conferences, workshops and seminars.
• Teach public law courses at Bachelor and Master levels, covering public economic and financial law, parliamentary law and legal methodology.
• Supervise Master’s theses and, upon obtaining the ADR, supervise doctoral candidates and contribute to doctoral training.
• Engage in knowledge‑transfer, outreach activities and develop professional networks with public institutions and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in Public Law awarded at least five years ago, with a strong academic record and proven capacity for independent research.
• Solid expertise in European and Luxembourg public economic and financial law, especially public finance, monetary law and economic regulation; additional expertise in parliamentary law or legal philosophy is a strong asset.
• Demonstrated record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals and collective volumes.
• Experience designing, leading and managing research projects, including successful external funding applications.
• Teaching experience in public economic law at Bachelor and/or Master level, with ability to supervise theses and participate in examination boards.
