Principal Finance – EMEA Accounting Policy

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Principal Finance professional to join its Luxembourg‑based EMEA Accounting Policy team. In this senior leadership position you will guide complex accounting matters across the region, combining deep US GAAP and IFRS expertise with a data‑driven, AI‑enhanced approach.

Key responsibilities

• Research and apply US GAAP, IFRS, and other reporting frameworks to unique, high‑impact transactions across EMEA.
• Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and guidance documents, supporting operational accounting teams.
• Leverage AI‑powered tools and automation to streamline accounting research, policy documentation, and drive efficiency gains.
• Lead and manage complex accounting policy projects with a focus on scalability and simplification.
• Design and deliver organization‑wide training initiatives on emerging accounting standards.
• Collaborate with internal Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, Technology teams, senior leaders, external partners, and auditors to create scalable solutions.
• Monitor external legal, financial, and regulatory changes and incorporate their impact into policies.

Required profile

• Professional experience in accounting policy, technical accounting, or a related advisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS with proven ability to research, analyze, and document complex accounting conclusions.
• Hands‑on, data‑driven mindset with the ability to thrive in an ambiguous, high‑growth environment.
