Payload Engineer – Spacecraft Subsystem

About the role

The Payload Engineer will monitor satellite health, provide on‑call support for spacecraft anomalies, and ensure the GEO and MEO fleet remains available and reliable. You will work on maximizing satellite longevity while meeting customer SLA requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maximize fleet availability and longevity in line with SLA terms.
• Define operations requirements, use cases, test and validation plans for payload automation applications.
• Assess link‑budget and RF interference scenarios, propose mitigation solutions, and track payload non‑compliances.
• Develop, enhance, or debug integrated payload and RF monitoring tools for performance monitoring and resource optimisation.
• Collaborate with Adaptive Resource Optimizer and Allocator software to integrate payload data models and in‑orbit calibration.
• Prepare and manage contingency operations, including innovative resilience solutions.
• Support design, procurement, testing, integration, and in‑orbit testing of new satellites.
• Analyse malfunctions, provide guidance during anomalies, and contribute to RF data processing and phased‑array calibration.
• Develop training material and deliver technical training to internal teams.

Required profile

• Strong technical proficiency in analysing satellite payload systems and diagnosing issues.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities, especially under pressure.
• Ability to interpret performance metrics and conduct troubleshooting.
