Legal Advisor

About the role

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) at the University of Luxembourg seeks a Legal Advisor to support its interdisciplinary research activities. You will provide comprehensive legal counsel across a range of topics, ensuring compliance and facilitating smooth collaborations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and conduct research in European law, contract law, data protection, research ethics, state aid, donations, and intellectual property.
• Analyse legal risks, propose solutions, and draft, review, negotiate, and oversee research‑related contracts and agreements.
• Liaise with researchers, external lawyers, and partners to align legal requirements with scientific objectives.
• Collaborate with internal units such as technology transfer, procurement, taxation, HR, academic affairs, finance, and student services.
• Handle ad‑hoc legal assignments and contribute to the development of internal procedures and university policies.
• Monitor new legislation and regulations that may affect the centre’s activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in law, preferably with a focus on contract, civil or intellectual property law.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, ideally within a research or academic environment.
• Knowledge of the Luxembourg legal system is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑changing, highly international setting.
• Self‑driven, resourceful, and eager to learn about scientific research.
• Fluent in English and French; German is an advantage.
