Head of Risk – Europe

About the role

The Head of Risk will build and lead Paytm Europe’s enterprise risk function, shaping the risk framework that supports the company’s expansion across Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands and other European markets. Reporting to senior management, this executive will embed a strong risk culture while enabling innovative product development and commercial growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve the Enterprise Risk Framework, Risk Appetite Statement and related policies.
• Lead the second line of defence, providing independent challenge to executive management and preparing risk reports for the Board and Risk & Compliance Committee.
• Oversee operational, technology, cyber, outsourcing, third‑party and resilience risks, ensuring DORA and other regulatory requirements are embedded by design.
• Maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery frameworks and coordinate stress‑testing, scenario analysis and periodic risk assessments.
• Develop Key Risk Indicators, risk dashboards and a corporate Risk Register, driving remediation of risk actions.
• Support new product launches, partnerships and market expansion through proactive risk assessment and commercially pragmatic advice.
• Build and manage a high‑performing risk team and promote a strong risk culture across the organisation.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading risk management functions in a regulated financial services or fintech environment.
• Deep knowledge of European regulatory frameworks such as CSSF, EBA, DORA and related compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to influence senior executives, board members and cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of establishing risk governance, monitoring frameworks and delivering strategic risk insights.
• Strong commercial acumen to balance innovation with risk protection.
