Head of Controlling

About the role

Arendt & Medernach is seeking a Head of Controlling to lead its Controlling function across all business units, including international offices. Reporting to the CFO, the role combines financial reporting, performance monitoring and strategic partnership to drive profitability and support senior‑level decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee a team of four controllers, reviewing analyses, validating outputs and prioritising work to meet finance deadlines.
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to management and partners, providing insights on revenue, margins, performance metrics and overhead costs.
• Lead the annual budgeting process in close collaboration with business units and support services.
• Conduct ad‑hoc profitability, client/matter and cost‑driver analyses to inform strategic initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement of controlling systems, integrating data sources, automating reporting and enhancing BI tools.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Audit, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in finance, controlling or audit, with proven leadership experience.
• Creative mindset with strong data‑automation and structuring capabilities.
• Excellent understanding of data flows in multi‑core ERP environments.
• Proactive, can‑do attitude and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (including data modelling).
• Power BI (DAX) and/or SQL.
