EU VAT Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on EU VAT Manager to lead indirect tax compliance across our Group’s operations. Based in Luxembourg, the role supports a dynamic international trading environment, working closely with finance, operations, legal and external advisors in Geneva and across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee EU VAT compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions, including preparation and submission of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat declarations.
• Ensure accurate VAT treatment of complex cross‑border transactions and trading flows, monitoring legislative developments.
• Provide practical VAT advice to trading, operations, logistics and finance teams, supporting supply‑chain, import/export and intercompany structures.
• Assist in structuring new business activities from an indirect tax perspective and participate in commercial projects and system improvements.
• Identify VAT risks, propose mitigation measures and maintain robust processes, controls and documentation.
• Coordinate VAT audits, manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors, and support internal and external audit activities.
• Collaborate with teams in Geneva and other international offices, building strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to training initiatives.

Required profile

• Approximately 5 years of experience in indirect tax/VAT, preferably in an international setting.
• Experience gained in‑house, at a Big 4 firm, or a combination of both.
• Strong knowledge of EU VAT regulations and cross‑border transaction flows.
• Commodity or energy trading exposure is a significant advantage.
• Exposure to broader international tax areas such as Pillar Two, corporate income tax and transfer pricing is a plus.
• Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Law or a related discipline.
