ETF/Index Portfolio Engineer (Xtrackers)

About the role

DWS Group is looking for a Portfolio Engineer within its Passive Portfolio Management team, which manages the full range of X-trackers across Equity and Fixed Income ETFs, as well as Segregated mandates, covering many index providers and ESG and thematic benchmarks. The role sits in Luxembourg and involves daily management of index equity portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Manage index equity portfolios daily through portfolio construction and trade implementation
• Support efficient management of client flows
• Manage investment and risk exposures and determine optimal hedging strategies where applicable
• Determine the optimal portfolio strategy to minimise tracking error to the index, ensuring accurate trading across corporate actions and cash flows
• Work on projects aimed at efficiency, scale and automation of the platform
• Work closely with trading desks on execution strategies
• Contribute to new and existing product development
• Oversee NAV, portfolio composition file reconciliations and performance attribution analysis

Required profile

• Strong financial product knowledge across equities, fixed income or commodities, including index, synthetic, delta-one or derivative instruments
• Experience in portfolio management, trading or index research, with knowledge of portfolio construction, performance and attribution and ETF servicing
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification or relevant work experience
• Understanding of rebalance trading strategies
• Ability to use AI tools productively and responsibly

Required skills

• Knowledge of index methodologies from providers such as FTSE, S&P and MSCI
• Quantitative skills; Python, VBA and Excel are highly beneficial
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Use of Bloomberg, Reuters, Factset, Aladdin and optimisation systems such as Barra BPM and Bloomberg Portfolio Management
