Doctoral Researcher in Human-Computer Interaction

About the role

This fully funded PhD investigates how end users interact with AI‑generated social‑engineering attacks such as phishing emails, voice messages, websites and images. The researcher will combine human‑subject studies, HCI methods and AI techniques to develop tools for education and detection.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cutting‑edge research in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
• Design, implement and run human‑subject studies on AI‑generated social‑engineering attempts.
• Develop tools to improve end‑user education and detection across multiple media (emails, voice, web, images).
• Study AI methods that generate social‑engineering attacks to inform detection strategies.
• Contribute to national and international research collaborations and publish findings in high‑impact venues.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Cognitive Science, Data Science or a closely related field.
• Strong background in machine learning and cybersecurity.
• Proficiency in Python or another major programming language.
• Motivation to publish in leading international conferences and journals.
• Interest or experience in phishing identification, anti‑phishing training, or automated phishing generation is a plus.
