Cloud Engineer - VMware and Nutanix

About the role

An EU institution in Luxembourg is looking for a Cloud Engineer with hands-on knowledge of VMware and Nutanix to join its Architecture & Deployment team. The engineer leads the strategic design, deployment and lifecycle management of the Nutanix cloud infrastructure, works with the other entities of the Infrastructures and Operations domain and keeps the infrastructure running optimally under ITIL-based operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and optimise VMware vSphere environments across different network and security zones
• Manage and support Nutanix virtualisation clusters
• Manage VMware components such as ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and Site Recovery Manager
• Handle lifecycle activities: patching, hotfixes, upgrades and obsolescence management
• Monitor capacity, availability and performance with VMware Aria Operations
• Support disaster recovery based on VMware SRM and Nutanix Metro Availability
• Automate recurring operations and provisioning with PowerCLI and orchestration workflows
• Support VM provisioning, resource changes, snapshots and related requests
• Apply security policies, secure configuration standards and architectural updates
• Investigate and resolve virtualisation incidents and performance issues
• Work with storage, network, security and architecture teams, acting as a regular interface with application teams and service centres

Required profile

• Relevant professional experience with virtualisation platforms and infrastructure operations
• At least 3 years of hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter
• At least 1 year of practical experience with Nutanix clusters in production
• Experience with highly available or multi-site infrastructure
• Structured, dependable approach to operations and incident resolution
• Good communication skills and teamwork
• Professional English; French is an asset
