Senior Accountant – Private Banking

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance team of a well‑established international private bank in Luxembourg. The role offers broad exposure across accounting, reporting, controls, and regulatory matters within a dynamic banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end ownership of assigned accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Prepare and record general ledger entries in accordance with Lux GAAP and IFRS.
• Execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing activities for designated accounting areas.
• Prepare and review Lux GAAP financial statements and IFRS reporting packages for Head Office.
• Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, nostro accounts, and balance‑sheet positions, investigating discrepancies.
• Support preparation and review of VAT and corporate tax returns in line with Luxembourg regulations.
• Conduct analytical reviews and variance analysis for management.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and act as a key contact for auditors.
• Contribute to process optimisation, system enhancements, and finance transformation projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience in banking, financial services, or audit.
• Strong knowledge of Lux GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
• Hands‑on experience with general ledger accounting, financial close, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Familiarity with banking products and financial instruments is advantageous.
• Experience preparing VAT and corporate tax filings in Luxembourg.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
