Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

VASS Luxembourg, in partnership with the European Commission, is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its team at the European Commission premises. The role focuses on managing enterprise platforms, automating operational processes and supporting continuous delivery pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end management of on‑premise enterprise platforms.
• Continuous improvement and automation of operational processes.
• Planning, coordinating and executing releases.
• Incident handling, analysis and resolution ownership.
• Risk and impact assessment with effective follow‑up and issue tracking.
• System, application and architecture troubleshooting.
• Performance monitoring and debugging on Linux and Windows.
• Database and middleware operations (Oracle, Sybase, JBoss).
• Utilising DevOps toolchains to support CI/CD delivery.
• Clear communication and collaboration across teams.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of DevOps methodologies and release management.
• Experience with ITIL best practices (incident and release management).
• Familiarity with enterprise databases such as Sybase ASE and Oracle.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Bash, Groovy, Python, Java).
• Understanding of web and middleware technologies (Tomcat, Nginx, Apache, JBoss EAP).
• Experience with version control and DevOps ecosystems (GitHub, Azure DevOps).
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise platforms and tools (Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, Jira, Matomo, Codescene).
