Senior Compliance Associate

About the role

Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. is looking for a Senior Compliance Associate to act as a strategic advisor and key second-line defender within its Luxembourg Compliance team. The team owns the compliance framework that keeps Coinbase aligned with regulatory obligations across one of its most critical European entities. The role leads framework development, regulatory advisory and CCO support, and ensures the compliance posture scales with the business and meets the expectations of Luxembourg regulators. The position is hybrid, with 3-5 days in the office, and is open to relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, maintain and update local compliance policies and frameworks aligned with EU/Luxembourg requirements and group standards.
• Own the Compliance Monitoring Plan and run thematic reviews, working with the Central Compliance Testing & Assurance team.
• Prepare materials for inspections, regulatory queries and governance bodies, and coordinate annual regulatory reports such as the AML Risk Assessment, RC Report and Annual Compliance Summary Report.
• Monitor consumer protection on conflict of interest, transparency and disclosure, and support Compliance by Design reviews for new products and services.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting, liaise with data teams and stakeholders, and support the CCO on AML/CFT implementation, regulatory horizon scanning and impact assessments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of compliance experience in an EU-regulated financial institution (e-money, payment institution, bank or MiFID II entity), with progressive responsibility across several disciplines.
• Experience leading compliance monitoring/testing programmes and thematic reviews with documented findings and remediation tracking.
• Track record of preparing materials for regulators, auditors and internal governance bodies.
• Fluent English; French is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of EU financial regulations: MiCA, PSD2, AMLD, MiFID II, DORA and GDPR, applied to policy, monitoring plans and reporting.
• Familiarity with crypto assets and crypto regulation (e.g. MiCA) is preferred.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.
