Senior Backend Java Engineer (Microservices)

About the role

Fujitsu is looking for a Senior Backend Java Engineer to join its Luxembourg team. You will design, develop and maintain robust micro‑service based backend solutions that support critical business processes such as registrations, VAT declarations and workflow automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful microservices using Java 17+ and Quarkus following Twelve‑Factor App principles.
• Develop secure, scalable services handling complex business logic, batch processing and asynchronous notifications.
• Translate functional specifications into APIs, data models, business rules and error handling (RFC 9457).
• Collaborate with architects to ensure compliance with logging, auditing, security and refactoring road‑maps.
• Build and maintain integrations with internal APIs and external systems (e.g., SAP, MyGuichet) via SOAP and messaging.
• Deliver production‑ready code with strong unit and integration test coverage and participate in code reviews.

• Clear communication and effective teamwork with architects, analysts and cross‑functional teams.
• High level of rigor, autonomy and reliability in a mixed legacy‑modern environment.

Required skills

• Java (17+) and Quarkus
• REST APIs (JAX‑RS, RESTEasy), OpenAPI 3, JSON‑B/JSON‑P
• RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems
• Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Splunk for logging and monitoring
• CI/CD pipeline experience
• PostgreSQL and DB2 z/OS
• SOAP web services and asynchronous integration patterns
