Senior Accountant / Controller – Alternative Investments (German speaking)

About the role

Our client, a world‑leading alternative investment manager, is creating a new senior finance position in its Luxembourg in‑house alternative funds business. The Senior Accountant / Controller will report directly to Group HQ Finance and will be responsible for IFRS accounting advice and structuring of non‑standard investments across infrastructure, renewable energy, private equity, private debt and real estate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and propose innovative accounting solutions for non‑standard alternative assets.
• Provide structuring input for new limited partnership funds, including vehicle type and governance rights.
• Determine IFRS‑relevant terms for private debt assets, such as embedded derivatives and consolidation requirements.
• Interact with captive and external asset managers to gather financial data for limited partnership and direct private debt investments.
• Prepare IFRS accounting opinions for complex fund structures and private debt features, including consolidation under IFRS 10 and embedded‑derivative analysis.
• Assess fair‑value measurement, impairment analysis, and the impact of IFRS 9 on investment portfolios.
• Conduct SPPI tests and support loan‑loss provisioning for complex private debt assets.
• Prepare presentations for senior management.

Required profile

• Excellent university degree in business administration or economics.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Extensive experience in IFRS accounting and reporting, preferably within alternative investments in Luxembourg.
• Additional qualifications such as MBA, CFA or CPA are a plus.
