Sector Specialist – Innovation Fund (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Sector Specialist to join its Innovation Fund Unit in Luxembourg. You will provide technical assistance to project promoters developing innovative, low‑carbon and energy‑efficiency solutions across energy, industry and net‑zero mobility sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Review project eligibility under the Innovation Fund Project Development Assistance (IF PDA) Contribution Agreement.
• Assess technical viability, environmental sustainability and maturity of projects in multidisciplinary teams.
• Support promoters in improving technical, financial and operational readiness to access Innovation Fund financing.
• Liaise with the European Commission (DG CLIMA) and CINEA to ensure alignment with EU requirements.
• Collaborate with internal units such as Operations, Legal and other Directorates to coordinate project development activities.

Required profile

• Strong background in low‑carbon technologies, energy efficiency, renewable energy, carbon capture, storage or net‑zero mobility.
• Familiarity with EU climate and Innovation Fund regulations.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary, international environments.
• Excellent analytical abilities and capacity to evaluate complex technical data.
