Quality Lead – Satellite Manufacturing

About the role

This is a unique greenfield opportunity to build the quality function from the ground up for a new satellite manufacturing facility in Luxembourg. You will shape the quality culture, systems and standards that will support spacecraft production for a flagship European space programme.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a full Quality Management System (QMS) ready for AS9100 and ISO 9001 certification.
• Define quality processes, procedures and work instructions for manufacturing, assembly, integration and test.
• Establish inspection and verification regimes, including first‑article and in‑process inspections, and manage non‑conformances.
• Embed recognised space and aerospace workmanship standards such as ECSS and IPC.
• Set up supplier quality assurance, support supplier selection, qualification and audits.
• Lead root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Prepare the site for external certification and customer audits, acting as the primary quality contact.
• Build and develop a quality team as the operation scales.

Required profile

• Proven track record in quality within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably space, defence or aerospace.
• Hands‑on experience establishing or significantly developing a QMS in a new or fast‑evolving setting.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and familiarity with ECSS standards.
• Understanding of workmanship and inspection standards for high‑reliability electronics (e.g., IPC).
• Practical experience with supplier quality, auditing and corrective‑action methodologies.
• Degree in engineering, manufacturing or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive quality excellence in a greenfield environment.
