Principal Operations Planning Officer

About the role

The Principal Operations Planning Officer will lead the planning and execution of military and contracted logistics at HQ and NATO Command Structure level. Working within a multinational team, the role supports strategic objectives and drives performance across the Support to Operations Directorate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate logistics plans for exercises and operations within NATO and national frameworks.
• Facilitate and present proposals to secure stakeholder buy‑in and negotiate outcomes.
• Manage multiple tasks under pressure, delivering high‑quality outputs on short notice.
• Identify risks early, devise mitigation strategies, and monitor performance against defined metrics.
• Represent the organisation in international meetings, promoting cooperation and sharing best practices.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in military and contracted logistics planning at HQ and NATO level.
• Proven analytical ability and structured approach to complex tasks.
• Military staff officer training or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to work flexibly in a changing environment and lead a diverse team.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the NATO Command Structure and national military logistics.
• Expertise in operational logistics support for planning exercises and operations.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and persuasion capabilities.
• Excellent multi‑tasking, time‑management and problem‑solving skills.
