Powerplant Engineer

About the role

The Powerplant Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability and cost‑effectiveness of the cargo fleet's aircraft engines and auxiliary power units (APUs). Based in Luxembourg, the role supports both Cargolux and customer aircraft throughout their maintenance lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety and dispatch reliability of the cargo aircraft fleet.
• Monitor engine condition and performance, reviewing shop visit reports and invoices to optimise cost efficiency.
• Support inspections, modifications and other maintenance activities on engines and APUs.
• Evaluate Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins.
• Define work scopes for engine and APU shop visits.
• Provide engineering support to other departments and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• University degree in aeronautical or mechanical engineering with a focus on gas turbines or propulsion systems.
• Experience in an aeronautical environment; knowledge of Part 21 is a plus.
• Strong IT background with proficiency in 3D CAD/CAM applications.
• Excellent communication skills, proactive decision‑making and flexibility to travel.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages are advantageous.
• Valid driving licence and ability to obtain a certificate of good conduct.
