Postdoc in Peacebuilding and Shared Holy Places Research

About the role

The University of Luxembourg seeks a post‑doctoral researcher to join the Horizon Europe project RE‑SPHERE, focusing on the socioeconomic impact of Shared Holy Places (SHPs) on peacebuilding, social cohesion and sustainable recovery in post‑conflict regions.

Key responsibilities

• Support empirical research on SHPs, analysing their role in peacebuilding and regional development.
• Collect, manage and analyse socioeconomic and geo‑referenced datasets using quantitative and econometric techniques.
• Contribute to longitudinal survey analysis, policy evaluation and the preparation of project deliverables.

Required profile

• PhD in Economics (preferably Political Economy) or a closely related field.
• Strong interest in labour, public economics, migration, education, gender or regional development.
• Proven ability to conduct high‑quality independent research at a post‑doctoral level and to collaborate within a research team.
• Experience presenting at academic conferences and/or publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.

• Data management and geo‑spatial data analysis.
• Strong IT and data‑analysis capabilities.
