Manager – Operational Tax & Withholding Tax Reclaim

About the role

PwC Luxembourg is seeking a Manager to lead its Operational Tax team, focusing on withholding tax reclaim projects for multinational and local clients in the financial sector. You will act as a trusted advisor, guiding asset managers, insurance companies, private banks and institutional investors through complex tax compliance and reclaim processes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify reclaim opportunities based on Double Tax Treaties, EU law and domestic regulations.
• Coordinate documentation collection with clients, custodians and other stakeholders.
• File withholding tax claims with authorities, monitor refunds and prepare detailed reporting.
• Lead client meetings, discuss reclaim strategies and support complex operational tax topics.
• Drive process optimisation, standardisation and automation initiatives, including digital filing solutions such as FASTER.
• Support leadership in launching new WHT services and initiatives.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of junior and senior collaborators.

Required profile

• University degree in economics, management, law or taxation.
• 4+ years of experience in tax advisory, financial institutions or specialised operational tax teams with a focus on withholding tax reclaims.
• Proven end‑to‑end management of withholding tax reclaim operations for international investors.
• Strong knowledge of taxation of financial instruments, Double Tax Treaties and EU reclaim mechanisms.
• Interest in process optimisation, internal controls and technology‑driven transformation.
• Fluent in English and French; German is a plus.
