Management Accountant – Finance & Reporting

About the role

Rakuten International is seeking a Management Accountant to join its European finance team. You will work closely with the EU Head of Finance, senior finance managers and budget owners to analyse performance, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide insight for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and submit monthly management accounts, budgets, rolling forecasts and KPIs using Rakuten’s BPC consolidation software.
• Coordinate the annual 5‑year budget process and ongoing rolling forecasts through financial modelling.
• Review and analyse monthly management accounts and cost‑centre reports with stakeholders.
• Generate KPI analysis to communicate business performance and recommend improvements.
• Enforce budgetary cost‑control and evaluate projects using ROI, payback, DCF and other techniques.
• Develop and implement systems to enhance reporting and performance analysis.
• Maintain databases and datasets supporting financial and KPI reporting.
• Prepare reports and presentations for business leaders and support communication of forecasts and strategic issues.
• Lead or participate in projects aimed at improving the management accounting function.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in a management accounting or similar finance role.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning.
• University degree in a relevant subject and progress towards a professional accounting qualification.
• Familiarity with management accounting techniques such as ROI, payback, contribution analysis, DCF and standard costing.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Financial modelling expertise.
• Experience using BPC (or similar consolidation software).
