Librarian Specialist – Medicine & Health Sciences Focus

About the role

The University of Luxembourg seeks a Librarian Specialist with a primary focus on Medicine and Health Sciences. The role supports the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) in delivering research and learning services for growing health education programmes and STEM disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage library collections in medicine, health sciences and other STEM fields such as engineering, computer science, life sciences and mathematics.
• Provide expert guidance, research support and information‑literacy training tailored to medical, health‑science and STEM programmes.
• Act as liaison between the LLC and university stakeholders, supporting new and expanding academic programmes.
• Conduct literature searches, systematic reviews and support advanced research and clinical information needs.
• Create and maintain subject guides, web pages, bibliographies and thematic selections.
• Implement and promote digital tools, databases and electronic resources in line with university standards.
• Define, lead and continuously improve standards, methodologies and frameworks for information management and literature searching.
• Serve as reference expert for medical and health information practices, including clinical decision tools, AI tools, plagiarism prevention and ethical use of resources.

Required profile

• Experience managing library collections in medicine, health sciences or related STEM areas.
• Proven ability to provide research support and information‑literacy training to students, faculty and researchers.
• Strong communication skills for liaison with academic departments and interdisciplinary centres.
• Familiarity with systematic review processes and advanced literature searching techniques.
