Legal Counsel – Real Estate & Construction (EU Operations)

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its real estate and construction activities across Europe, with a focus on Germany. You will work closely with Real Estate and Operations teams to acquire, develop, and manage logistics facilities that power Amazon’s delivery network.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft complex real estate agreements, including purchase and sale, ground leases, build‑to‑suit leases, development agreements and construction contracts.
• Partner with business teams to structure transactions that meet operational needs while managing legal and commercial risk.
• Advise on land‑use, zoning and permitting strategies for new facilities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Tax and Construction to drive projects from site selection through launch.
• Develop creative solutions to legal issues arising during acquisition and development.
• Support post‑acquisition matters such as construction contracts, property‑management agreements and operational issues.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on specialised matters, overseeing strategy and costs.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks and stay current on relevant real‑estate laws and regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement of legal processes to increase efficiency and scalability.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in real‑estate and construction transactions.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving abilities for complex, high‑impact projects.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with diverse business teams.
