Legal Counsel, Fintech – New Payments

About the role

As a Legal Counsel you will provide high‑level legal guidance for fintech products, especially payments, e‑money and consumer credit, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Support product development by collaborating cross‑functionally to design and launch new payments and consumer credit services, including BNPL.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and propose mitigation strategies aligned with the company’s risk appetite.
• Advise on financial regulatory requirements such as PSD2, AML/KYC, e‑money regulations and CCD2.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and promote legal awareness across the organisation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience, ideally 8‑10 years in fintech and payments.
• Deep knowledge of financial and consumer credit regulations (PSD2, AML/KYC, EMRs, CCD2) and experience in both private practice and in‑house roles.
• Analytical mindset with strong judgment for risk‑based decisions.
• Fluent in English; Italian or French a plus.
