Legal Counsel – Fintech Payments & Consumer Credit

About the role

As a Legal Counsel you will provide high‑level legal guidance for our fintech products, focusing on payments, e‑money and consumer credit services. You will work closely with product, engineering and senior leadership to ensure compliance and manage risk.

Key responsibilities

• Support product development by integrating legal analysis with technical and engineering considerations for new payments and BNPL services.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, aligning strategies with the company’s risk appetite.
• Advise on financial regulatory requirements such as PSD2, AML/KYC, e‑money regulations and CCD2.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and promote legal awareness across the organisation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post‑qualification experience, ideally 8‑10 years total.
• Deep knowledge of fintech, payments and consumer credit regulations (PSD2, AML/KYC, EMRs, CCD2).
• Experience in both private practice and in‑house legal roles within the fintech sector.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to make risk‑based decisions.
• Fluent English; Italian or French a plus.

• Understanding of basic technology and engineering processes in fintech and payments.
• Ability to balance legal risks with commercial considerations.
