Junior R&D Engineer – Mechanical Design & Development

About the role
We are looking for a Junior R&D Engineer to join Rotarex’s development team in Lintgen, Luxembourg. You will work alongside experienced engineers to turn product concepts into fully industrialised solutions, gaining hands‑on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, testing and validation.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development of new products and continuous improvement of existing ones.
- Participate in product development projects from concept, design and prototyping through testing, validation and industrialisation.
- Create and modify 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models in line with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Prepare designs considering manufacturing constraints, supplier capabilities and engineering standards.
- Gather technical information such as materials, dimensions, tolerances, interfaces and manufacturing requirements.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, specifications, prototypes and samples.
- Perform basic engineering calculations, design reviews, tolerance analyses and technical evaluations under senior guidance.
- Support prototype manufacturing, coordinate prototype parts and samples, and participate in test preparation, execution and data collection.
- Analyse technical issues identified during development, testing or production and contribute to design optimisation, standardisation and cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Purchasing, Product Management, Sales and suppliers, providing technical information and supporting supplier follow‑up.
Required profile
- A junior engineer ready to support product development projects from concept to industrialisation.
- Willingness to work under the guidance of senior engineers and learn across the full development cycle.
- Interest in mechanical design, prototyping and testing within an industrial environment.
Required skills
- 2D technical drawing creation and interpretation.
- 3D CAD modelling (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Basic engineering calculations and tolerance analysis.
- Prototype manufacturing coordination and testing.
- Ability to prepare and review engineering documentation and specifications.
