Head of Finance and Accounting

About the role

The University of Luxembourg is looking for an experienced finance leader to head its Finance and Accounting Department. Reporting to the Director of Administration and Finance, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality financial services that support the university’s academic, research and operational missions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Finance and Accounting Department, ensuring efficient, customer‑oriented finance services.
• Oversee core finance activities such as controlling, accounting, treasury, taxation, statutory reporting and public procurement.
• Maintain robust financial governance, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate statutory audit activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting, processes and service delivery.
• Integrate and harmonise financial controlling across faculties and administrative services.
• Lead organisational, process and systems improvement initiatives, including SAP enhancements.
• Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide decision‑support analyses.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience, preferably in a complex, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Strong financial expertise with sound judgement and the ability to influence across the organization.
• Excellent leadership and people‑development skills.
• Ability to manage change and drive transformation.
