Client Acceptance Lead – Credit Underwriting

About the role

Riverty is looking for a Client Acceptance Lead to head the underwriting function for both business and consumer portfolios. Based in Luxembourg, you will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver data‑driven credit decisions while ensuring compliance with European regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the client underwriting process for business and consumer portfolios.
• Guide and support a team of underwriters and financial analysts in daily operations.
• Prepare data‑driven credit decisions within defined risk and compliance frameworks.
• Develop and enhance underwriting processes, policies, models, and decision standards.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory (e.g., EBA, CSSF, BaFin) and internal risk requirements.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Finance, Operations and Sales to optimise semi‑automated credit workflows.
• Monitor portfolio performance and recommend improvements to underwriting criteria.
• Represent proposed business opportunities in internal committees and approval processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in credit underwriting, credit risk management, financial projects or lending, preferably in FinTech or a regulated financial institution.
• First leadership experience with a desire to develop a team.
• Strong understanding of European banking regulations, credit policies and risk governance frameworks.
• Proven experience in SME or retail lending environments.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; German or French is an advantage.
