Banking & Finance Lawyer – Polish Market – Luxembourg

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Banking and Finance Lawyer with a focus on the Polish market to join its Central Europe Division in Luxembourg. The role is full‑time, based on site, and involves providing legal support for lending operations across eight Central European jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate loan agreements, guarantees and other finance documents in English.
• Provide legal advice on secured and unsecured lending, structured finance, asset finance and public‑private partnership transactions.
• Support EIB projects in Poland and, when required, in other CE jurisdictions (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia).
• Collaborate with internal legal teams, external counsel and client representatives to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
• Occasionally travel for negotiations and signing of legal documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with expertise in banking, finance and structured finance law.
• Experience advising on cross‑border lending operations and public‑sector financing.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Polish legal framework is essential.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and negotiation of finance contracts.
• Understanding of EU banking regulations and structured finance mechanisms.
• Ability to interpret and apply EU and national laws to lending projects.
