Banking & Finance Lawyer – Polish Market Focus (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Banking and Finance Lawyer with a focus on the Polish market to join its Legal Directorate in Luxembourg. You will work on lending operations across Central Europe, providing legal expertise that supports the Bank’s mission of fostering economic growth and cohesion.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on lending operations, primarily for projects in Poland and other Central European jurisdictions.
• Draft and independently negotiate loan agreements, guarantees, and other finance documents in English.
• Advise on structured finance transactions, including asset‑backed and synthetic securitizations, project finance, and public‑private partnerships.
• Collaborate with a team of 12 lawyers, the Head of the Central Europe Division, and other EIB directorates.
• Coordinate limited travel for negotiations and signing of legal documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with solid experience in banking and finance law.
• Demonstrated expertise in EU lending operations and familiarity with the Polish legal and market environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work autonomously within a multinational team.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Polish is advantageous.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and negotiation of loan and guarantee agreements.
• Knowledge of structured finance, securitisation, project finance and PPP frameworks.
• Understanding of EU and EIB regulatory requirements.
