Banking & Finance Lawyer – Polish Market Focus (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Banking and Finance Lawyer with a focus on the Polish market to join its Legal Directorate in Luxembourg. You will work on lending operations across Central Europe, providing legal expertise that supports the Bank’s mission to foster economic growth and cohesion.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate loan agreements, guarantees and other finance documents in English.
• Provide legal advice on secured and unsecured lending, structured finance, asset‑finance and public‑private partnership transactions.
• Support EIB projects in Poland and, when required, in other Central European jurisdictions (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia).
• Collaborate with external counsel, internal lawyers and business units to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
• Occasionally travel for negotiations and signing of legal documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in banking, finance or investment‑banking law.
• Demonstrated ability to work on cross‑border lending operations and structured finance transactions.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Polish is essential.
• Strong analytical skills and the capacity to operate within a multicultural, multi‑jurisdictional environment.
