Internship – Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning

About the role

Join the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) for a three‑month research internship focused on privacy‑preserving federated learning. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to explore and enhance the security and robustness of distributed machine‑learning systems.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and benchmark state‑of‑the‑art federated learning schemes.
• Develop privacy‑enhancing mechanisms for federated learning frameworks.
• Implement solutions that improve robustness and trustworthiness of federated learning models.

Required profile

• Holding a BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with a focus on cybersecurity concepts.
• Strong programming abilities, especially in Python and C++.
• Familiarity with federated learning concepts and related attacks (e.g., data poisoning, membership inference) is a plus.
• Experience with data preprocessing, particularly for healthcare data, is a plus.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages are an asset.
