Head of Department, Management

About the role

The Head of the Department of Management will report to the Academic Director and provide strategic leadership for the department. This senior position is responsible for advancing the educational, research and service missions of the department in line with LUNEX’s overall strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the department’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with institutional values.
• Lead the design, development, delivery and continuous review of Bachelor and Master programmes to guarantee relevance, quality and graduate employability.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of Continuing Professional Development courses in management, leadership, sport business, health management and wellbeing.
• Oversee internal and external quality assurance, accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
• Shape and promote the department’s research agenda, particularly in sport management.
• Expand academic, professional and industry partnerships at national and international levels.
• Support academic staff development, encourage evidence‑based teaching, digitalisation and research productivity.
• Set and monitor KPIs for student satisfaction, retention, performance, employability, research output and partnerships.
• Manage the departmental budget, resources and facilities in collaboration with central services.
• Champion a student‑centred experience, promoting diversity, inclusion and internationalisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in academic leadership within higher‑education management or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to design and oversee Bachelor and Master programmes.
• Experience in developing CPD offerings and responding to market needs.
• Strong background in research management and building research agendas.
• Track record of establishing and maintaining industry and academic partnerships.
• Competence in budgeting, resource allocation and quality‑assurance processes.
• Commitment to student‑centred teaching, diversity and internationalisation.
