Head of Department, Management

About the role

The Head of the Department of Management will report to the Academic Director and provide strategic leadership for the department’s academic and operational activities. The role is responsible for advancing education, research and service missions in line with LUNEX’s strategy and for enhancing programme quality and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the department’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with institutional values.
• Lead design, development and delivery of Bachelor and Master programmes, guaranteeing relevance and graduate employability.
• Develop and manage a portfolio of Continuing Professional Development courses in management, sport business, health management and wellbeing.
• Oversee accreditation, quality assurance and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Build and drive the department’s research agenda in sport management.
• Strengthen academic, professional and industry partnerships at national and international levels.
• Manage departmental budget, resources and staff in collaboration with central services.
• Promote student‑centred learning, digitalisation and diversity, inclusion and internationalisation.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD) in Sport Management or a closely related field.
• Proven academic leadership experience at department level, including programme development and accreditation.
• Strong record of research excellence and ability to grow a research agenda.
• Deep understanding of higher‑education quality assurance frameworks.
• Experience in curriculum design, digital teaching and managing international programmes.
• Financial and operational acumen for budget and resource management.
• Excellent communication skills and a robust network with academic and industry partners.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of French and/or German is strongly preferred.
