Doctoral Researcher in Human-Computer Interaction in Cybersecurity

About the role

We are looking for a doctoral researcher to join the TruX Research Group at the University of Luxembourg’s SnT centre. The project focuses on developing tools that improve end‑user education and detection of AI‑generated social‑engineering attacks, combining human‑subject studies, HCI, and advanced AI methods.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cutting‑edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
• Design, implement, and run human‑subjects experiments to study how users interact with AI systems for detecting social‑engineering attempts.
• Collaborate with national and international research partners.
• Prepare project deliverables and publish results in high‑quality scientific venues.
• Present findings at leading conferences and workshops.
• Supervise and mentor MSc and BSc students working on related topics.
• Support organization of demonstrations, shared tasks, and workshops.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Cognitive Science, Data Science or a closely related field.
• Strong background in machine learning and cybersecurity.
• Interest or prior experience in phishing identification, anti‑phishing training, automated phishing generation, or automated software engineering.
• Experience with human‑subjects research and statistical analysis.
