Principal Scientist (Comp. Bio/ML) - Genomics

About the role

We're looking for a Principal Computational Scientist/Director to help translate our foundation models into impactful, real‑world discovery workflows. In this role you will provide scientific leadership across model evaluation and applied use cases, keeping the work grounded in drug development and translational research challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership for model evaluation and applied use cases in genomics.
• Act as a key scientific partner to the research team, mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
• Collaborate with Product and Business Development to turn cutting‑edge biology + ML into customer‑focused deliverables.

Required profile

• PhD in Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years industry experience, OR MSc with 5+ years industry experience applying ML to genomics problems.
• Strong understanding of ML/AI methods for biological data such as transformers, VAEs, diffusion models and classical machine learning.
• Leadership experience managing small teams toward defined roadmaps or projects.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex science for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑iteration environment moving quickly from prototype to insight.
• Passion for building at the intersection of biology and machine learning.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch (or equivalent).
• Experience with transformers.
• Experience with variational autoencoders (VAEs).
• Experience with diffusion models.
• Proficiency in classical machine learning techniques.
