Data Scientist – Network Planning & Supply Chain Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to develop scientific solutions that optimise Amazon’s fulfilment strategy across multiple regions (EU, JP, IN and beyond). The role combines advanced modelling, optimisation and collaboration with technical, business and operational teams to improve customer experience while reducing cost and carbon footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mathematical and statistical models to optimise inventory placement, product flows and supply‑chain planning under uncertainty.
• Build optimisation tools for network flow planning and execution systems.
• Manage several high‑impact projects simultaneously and coordinate with data engineers, BI engineers and business stakeholders.
• Communicate data‑driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders through technical and business papers.
• Leverage large language models to improve explainability of optimisation solutions and support planners worldwide.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with experience as a Data Scientist.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SQL, Python and/or R.
• Experience with statistical software such as SAS or Matlab.
• Knowledge of statistical models (e.g., multinomial logistic regression).
• Data visualisation using Tableau or Amazon QuickSight.
• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) for model explainability.
