Systems Engineer – Automation (Windows/VMware)

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with a strong focus on automation and infrastructure optimisation within a global wealth and asset management firm. The role sits in a team of 15 engineers responsible for over 7,000 servers and will drive the evolution of our Windows and VMware landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks.
• Deploy, maintain and optimise VMware Aria / vRealize Automation workflows and blueprints.
• Administer and evolve Windows platforms, including Windows Server, Active Directory, ADFS, GPO and SCCM.
• Support Infrastructure as Code initiatives and contribute to cloud‑native automation.
• Ensure performance, security and reliability across virtual and physical infrastructure.
• Collaborate with network, security and development teams to integrate automation solutions.
• Participate in migration, industrialisation and continuous‑improvement projects such as the upgrade to VMware Cloud Foundation 9 and an Elastic‑based observability platform.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Windows Server administration.
• Deep knowledge of PowerShell scripting, modules and APIs.
• Proven expertise in VMware automation tools (Aria, vRealize Automation).
• Familiarity with Active Directory, ADFS, GPO and SCCM.
• Ability to work in a large‑scale, global technical environment.
