Software Development Engineer (SDE I)

About the role

Do you want to solve real customer problems through innovative technology? As a Software Development Engineer (SDE I) at Amazon, you will design, build, and operate scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems using cloud-native architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices with Java and Spring Boot on AWS.
• Write clean, production-quality code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Build and operate resilient, horizontally-scalable distributed systems.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues; take part in on-call rotations.
• Leverage GenAI and AI-powered tools to improve development productivity.
• Collaborate with international, multilingual teams across multiple time zones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related STEM field (minimum 60 ECTS in programming, algorithms, and systems).
• Expected graduation between October 2025 – September 2026, or graduated within the last 24 months.
• At least 1 year of hands-on Java development experience, including object-oriented design patterns.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Spring MVC, RESTful API development, and dependency injection.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and SQL with experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle.
• Familiarity with Git version control and basic AWS cloud services.
• Experience with unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito) and exposure to the full software development lifecycle.
