Software & Automation Engineer – Remote (Part‑time/Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Software & Automation Engineer to join our team on a part‑time or freelance basis. You will work remotely with experienced engineers on live production systems, contributing to software development, automation scripts, and industrial integration projects.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain desktop applications using WPF and C# for production environments.
• Develop Python automation scripts for data processing and system integration.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs to connect services and external platforms.
• Apply multithreading and synchronization techniques in performance‑critical code.
• Interface with industrial equipment via Modbus, MQTT, serial communication, and related protocols.
• Work with SQL or lightweight embedded databases (e.g., SQLite) for logging and diagnostics.
• Support machine commissioning and troubleshoot issues during occasional on‑site visits.
• Contribute to operator‑facing UI/UX, ensuring clarity and reliability.
• Debug and resolve problems in live production environments.

Required profile

• 0–3 years of professional experience or strong personal/academic projects.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Clear communication in an asynchronous remote setting.
• Comfortable in fast‑paced production contexts and practical troubleshooting.
• Curious, hands‑on attitude with a willingness to learn by doing.

Required skills

• C# and .NET (WPF preferred).
• Understanding of multithreading and concurrency.
• Python scripting.
• RESTful API design and integration.
• Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, or serial.
• SQL or embedded databases like SQLite.
• Basic electronics fundamentals (signals, wiring, troubleshooting).
