Senior Associate, Portfolio Management Oversight

About the role

Ares Management Luxembourg (AMLux), a regulated Alternative Investment Fund Manager and wholly owned subsidiary of Ares Management LLC, is looking for a Senior Associate to join its portfolio management oversight team. The role reports to the Conducting Officer of Portfolio Management and supports ongoing oversight of the portfolio managers of the funds under AMLux's management, in line with oversight procedures and regulatory requirements. It covers monitoring the investment process, tracking deals and portfolios, and reporting and escalation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor delegated portfolio managers and their funds, liaising with group portfolio management teams for specific asset classes, attending meetings, receiving reporting and following up escalations.
• Analyse reporting to track performance and follow up on issues, and analyse investments for compliance with processes, fund documentation and investment strategy.
• Liaise with group and AIFM control functions and produce reporting for committees and boards, and presentations where required.
• Carry out initial and ongoing due diligence and produce reports.
• Maintain internal policies and procedures, and assist in producing regular and ad-hoc reports for the CSSF.
• Review fund documentation for the oversight function, coordinate with legal, risk and compliance, and maintain product and oversight records on document management systems.

Required profile

• University degree (finance, business or economics preferred).
• 2-5 years of oversight experience with credit, fund of funds, private debt, infrastructure, private equity and/or real estate strategies.
• Knowledge of regulated AIFM activities, alternative assets and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Good communication skills, excellent written and spoken English, independent and organised, strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of workflow, data or document management systems.
