Research Scientist – Network Planning Optimization

About the role

We are seeking a Research Scientist to develop cutting‑edge scientific solutions that optimise Amazon’s fulfillment strategy across multiple global regions. You will work on network planning optimisation to enhance customer experience while reducing cost and carbon footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement optimisation models for worldwide fulfillment networks (EU, JP, IN, etc.).
• Collaborate with the global scientific community to define optimal fulfillment strategies.
• Partner with technical teams to build tools for network‑flow planning and execution systems.
• Engage business and operational stakeholders to influence strategy and gather problem‑solving inputs.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and scientific background.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across business functions.
• Detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data scripting languages such as SQL, Python, and R.
• Experience with statistical software (SAS, Matlab) and models like multinomial logistic regression.
• Ability to work collaboratively with data engineers and business‑intelligence engineers.
