Network and Observability Administrator

About the role

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology seeks a Network and Observability Administrator to ensure the security, reliability and visibility of its enterprise network and related services. You will work closely with IT, development and research teams to design, implement and maintain robust network security controls and observability solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, manage and optimise enterprise firewalls, including rule sets, NAT policies, network segmentation and ACLs.
• Deploy, administer and tune Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to protect web services.
• Implement and enforce network security policies and segmentation strategies aligned with organisational standards.
• Monitor firewalls, WAF, network and infrastructure for suspicious activity and support incident response.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments of network infrastructure and ensure timely remediation.
• Maintain logging, monitoring and alerting mechanisms for security auditing and incident detection.
• Collaborate with system, application and research teams to design secure architectures and integrate observability tools in on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Document configurations, procedures and incident handling processes, and stay up‑to‑date with emerging threats and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Strong understanding of network security concepts and best practices.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls and Web Application Firewalls.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple technical teams.
