Laboratory Technician – Polymer Chemistry

About the role

The company is a venture‑backed deep‑tech firm developing sustainable industrial technologies. They are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support a European‑funded R&D programme focused on novel polymer dissolution processes. You will work closely with scientists and engineers, performing hands‑on experiments and maintaining day‑to‑day laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments on polymer dissolution and solution preparation.
• Support the development of spinning dopes for advanced fibre production.
• Assist scientists with analytical testing and experimental programmes.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring routine maintenance is completed.
• Prepare and update laboratory documentation, SOPs, and experimental records.
• Manage inventory, consumables, and procurement activities.
• Handle chemicals, gases, and waste safely in line with regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline.
• Previous laboratory experience in an industrial or research environment.
• Experience handling polymers or chemical formulations.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary R&D setting.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
